Inkariket.
Inkariket var den största stadsbildningen i Sydamerika innan spanjorerna kom dit. Det sträckte sig över 400 mil från dagens Colombia i norr till Chile i söder. Det var över 3 miljoner kvadratkilometer stort. Folket i detta stora imperium talade över 160 språk och dialekter. Riket hölls ihop av ett vägnät på 4000 mil. Riket varade knappt 100 år mellan 1438 till 1533. Den nionde inkan Pachacutec började 1438 erövra och införliva andra samhällen.
Machu Picchu började byggas under Pachacutecs tid. Spanjorerna fann aldrig Machu Picchu. Den finns sedan 1983 på Unescos världsarvslista och är numera ett av världens sju nya underverk.
